Liebe Freunde und Symathisanten von www.foodforphilippines.org (FFP)

Gerne informieren wir dich über unsere Neuigkeiten. Leider ist unser hochgeschätzter Freund und Vorstandsmitglied Kurt Schweizer ganz unerwartet von uns gegangen, auch an dieser Stelle und postum herzlichen Dank für dein grosses Engagement für unseren Nonprofit-Verein, lieber Kurt!

Unser Verlust hat mit dazu geführt, dass wir den Vorstand aufgestockt, bzw. erneuert haben. Als Vize-Vorsitzende konnten wir Dr. med. Peter Gerecke und Markus Stöcklin gewinnen und Eden May Bosshard wird weiterhin als Organisatorin und Revisorin wirken. Ausserdem haben wir unsere Statuten revidiert (siehe Anhang) und insbesondere den Umständen Rechnung getragen, dass wir seit 2021 auch Altkleider und Althandys (ebf. alte PC’s, Laptops, Earphones) sammeln und in die Philippinen verschiffen und seit 2022 die schulische und universitäre Ausbildung von fünf uns gut bekannten benachteiligten Jugendlichen finanzieren. Mindestens Letzteres ist natürlich viel nachhaltiger als unser ursprünglicher Vereinszweck, Food-Notpakete zu den Bedürftigen in die elenden Squatter-Aereas (Slums) zu bringen. In jedem Fall bleiben «die Philippinen» auch nach der verheerenden Pandemie-Zeit unterstützungswürdig. Viele Leute leben (vor allem seit Corona...) in erbärmlichen Verhältnissen und sind riesig dankbar auch für kleine Zuwendungen.

Wir selber sind als Supporter leider auch nur kleine Fische – allerdings hoffend, unsere Aktionen mögen doch etwas mehr bewirken als die berühmten Tropfen auf dem heissen Stein. Immerhin kennen wir die Verhältnisse gut, wir setzen unsere Hilfe gezielt und ohne jegliche Spesen und Abzüge ein und es ist einfach grossartig, ja rührend, wie herzlich dankbar jede einzelne Spende angenommen wird! Insbesondere die fünf von uns betreuten und unterstützten Youngsters sind enorm dankbar. «Elias», «Tala», «Noah», «Arvin» und «Nicole» sind jetzt 5, 12, 16, 19 und 22 Jahre alt und machen tolle Fortschritte in der Schule und im Studium.

Wir haben dort unzählige Texte, Pics und Vids aufgeschaltet. Die Blogs sind chronologisch geordnet und erfassen die Zustände von Land und Leuten sehr vielseitig – bis zurück zu den Anfängen unseres Vereins.

Nun, heute dürfen wir das Neuste ankündigen, nämlich dass wir in 1-2 Monaten eine weitere Verschiffung (um den halben Erdball) von in unserer westlichen Welt ausgedienten und auf den Philippinen aber heissbegehrten Gütern aller nützlicher Art planen und tüchtig am Sammeln sind! Die Seefracht muss natürlich auch bezahlt werden, liegt aber im erträglichen Rahmen, sodass sich die Aktion erneut lohnen wird.

Also, wir bitten dich im Namen von FFP erneut herzlich, unsere Schützlinge mit einer Sach- oder Geldspende zu bedenken. Aber: Falls du schon anderweitige Unterstützung an Notleidende im In- und Ausland leisten solltest, danken wir dir auch dafür! Denn letztlich zählt ja nicht das exakte Ziel der guten Tat, sondern der gute Wille – jedem nach seinem Gutdünken und Vermögen. Alles sei akzeptiert und wir hoffen einfach, Mitgefühl und Verständnis und sogar einen kleinen Obulus z.G. von FFP auszulösen. Wenn du jedoch nicht mehr «belästigt» werden willst, darfst du uns ungeniert benachrichtigen, sodass wir dir künftig keine News mehr schicken werden.

Wenn du umgekehrt auch beim Supporten nachhaltig sein solltest, dann umso besser! Wir betreuen ja unsere 5 Kids in 5 verschiedenen Altersstufen mit entspr. 5 verschieden Bedürfnissen und Wegen. Falls du Patin oder Pate von einem von ihnen werden willst, also auch privaten Kontakt und direkte Anteilnahme möchtest, dann würden wir uns alle besonders darüber freuen! Wie auch immer, jede auch noch so kleine Geste, Sach- oder Geldspende zählt!

Dear friends and sympathizers of www.foodforphilippines.org (FFP)

We are pleased to inform you about our news. Unfortunately, our highly esteemed friend and board member Kurt Schweizer has passed away dramatically. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you posthumously for your great commitment to our non-profit association, dear Kurt!

Our loss has led us to expand and renew the board of our association. We were able to recruit Dr Peter Gerecke and Markus Stöcklin as vice-chairmen and Eden May Bosshard will continue to act as organizer and auditor. We have also revised our statutes (see appendix) and in particular taken into account the fact that since 2021 we have also been collecting old clothes and old cell phones (including old PCs, laptops and earphones) and shipping them to the Philippines, and since 2022 we have been financing the school and university education of five disadvantaged young people we know well. At least this is of course much more sustainable than our original purpose of bringing food parcels to the most needy in the miserable squatter aereas (slums). In any case, “the Philippines” remain worthy of support even the more after the devastating pandemic period. Many people (especially since Corona...) live in miserable conditions and are hugely grateful even for small donations.

Unfortunately, we ourselves as supporters are just small fish - although we hope that our actions can have a little more impact than the famous drops in the ocean. After all, we know the circumstances well, we use our help specifically and without any fees or deductions and it is simply great, even touching, how warmly and gratefully every single donation is accepted! In particular, the five youngsters we look after and support are enormously grateful. «Elias», «Tala», «Noah», «Arvin» and «Nicole» are now 5, 12, 16, 19 and 22 years old and are making great progress at school and in their studies.

Please also take a look at our revised homepage www.foodforphilippines.org and find out about our ongoing activities via www.foodforphilippines.org/blog. We have posted countless texts, pics and videos there. The blogs are arranged chronologically and capture the conditions of the country and its people in a very diverse way - right back to the beginnings of our association.

Well, today we can announce our latest news, namely that in 1-2 months we are planning another shipment (halfway around the globe) of all kinds of useful goods that have become obsolete in our western world but are in great demand in the Philippines, and that we are busy collecting them! Of course, the sea freight also has to be paid, but this is within tolerable limits, so the campaign will be worth it again.

So, on behalf of FFP, we would like to ask you once again to consider our protégés with a donation in kind or money. But: If you provide other support to those in need elsewhere at home and abroad, we thank you for that too! Because ultimately it is not the exact goal of the good deed that counts, but rather the good will - to each according to their own discretion and ability. Everything is accepted and we simply hope for compassion and understanding and even a small donation in favour of FFP. However, if you no longer want to be “harassed,” you can freely inform us so that we will no longer send you our news in the future.

Conversely, if you should also be sustainable when supporting, then all the better! We look after our 5 kids in 5 different ages with corresponding 5 different needs and ways. If you would like to become a godparent to one of them, i.e. you would also like private contact and direct sympathy, then we would all be particularly happy about it! Whatever the case, every gesture, donation in kind or money, no matter how small, it counts!
