Weitere schlimme Überschwemmungen in Silay – Another devastating Flooding hits Silay

In der Nacht auf Samstag ist eine weitere Sintflut, oder besser gesagt Springflut, über Silay hereingebrochen. Innert weniger Std. hat sich der Pegel des Malisbog Rivers wie scheint's niemals zuvor um viele Meter angehoben. Ich habe noch nie solche Regenmengen aufs Mal erlebt! Wegen Brownouts war's zudem stockfinster, Panik und Verzweiflung überall – die vielen hilflosen Kinder und Tiere, man stelle sich vor... Heute Morgen dann drastischer Pegelrückgang und ein Bild des Grauens. Noch unüberschaubar viele Hütten und Häuser wurden überschwemmt. Viele Nachbarn sind abgeschnitten, mindestens eine wichtige Brücke ist zerstört. Wir selber wurden zieml. verschont, wir selber brauchen KEINE Hilfe! Aber gerade die nahe am Wasser gebauten Slums traf es verheerend. Wg. tiefen Schlamms sind die Wege kaum mehr zu Fuss passierbar, mit Fahrzeugen gar nicht. Zum Glück gab’s keine Menschenopfer, wenigstens hat es sich noch von keinen herumgesprochen. Die angehängten Bilder und Videos zeigen die Lage nur in unserer Nähe. Wie es in den umliegenden Squatter Areas steht, wissen wir noch nicht. Sehr besorgniserregend ist, dass es gemäss Wetterbericht wohl noch viele Tage weiter regnen wird. Natürlich haben wir vor zu helfen, unsere nächste Aktion startet anfangs nächste Woche. Aber es braucht auch eure Hilfe. Another devastating Flooding hits Silay

In the night from Friday to Saturday another flooding, or rather said a kind of spring flood, hit Silay, Negros Occ. in the Philippines. Within a few hours only, the level of the Malisbog River has risen by many meters, as it never seems before in history. I have never seen so much rain falling at once before! Because of brownouts it was pitch black the whole night, panic and desperation was everywhere - just imagine the many helpless children and animals ... This morning then a drastic drop of the waterlevel and a scenery of horror. A huge number of huts and houses were flooded. Many neighbors are cut off and at least one important bridge is destroyed. We were very lucky and doing pretty good ourselves. Means, we don't need any help for ourselves! But it is precisely the slums near the water that are being devastated. Because of the deep mud, the paths are hardly accessible on foot, and not at all with vehicles. Fortunately, there were no human sacrifices, at least the word about it hasn't got around yet. The attached pictures and videos only show the locations near us. We do not yet know what the situation is like in the surrounding squatter areas. It is very worrying that the weather forecast says it will rain for many more days. Of course we want to help, our next campaign will start early next week. But it also needs your help.
